Ronald Brownstein explains the malaise pretty well in today's Los Angeles Times. Here is the important section of an article about Bill Clinton.
"During Bill Clinton's presidency, the median family income increased by 14%, the number of Americans in poverty declined by nearly 17%, and the number of children in poverty fell by almost one-fourth.
Since he left office in 2001, median income has declined by 5%, or more than $2,500. The number of Americans in poverty has increased by 38%, or about 12 million. The number of children in poverty has spike by one-third, or nearly 4 million."
And there you have it. Declining incomes and increasing poverty are Bush's legacy and Obama has done absolutely nothing to change it.
