In March, 2010, the Pew Research Center (a really good outfit) asked 2505 Americans whether each of the following institutions positively affect society.
71% said Small Business positively affect society
63% said Church or Synagogue
45% said the Obama administration
33% said Hollywood
31% said mainstream media
25% said corporations
24% said congress
22% said banks
That pretty much sums it up.
