Something To Think About

It has now been a year and half since Congress passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, aka, the Stimulus Bill.

$3.2 Billion was targeted at making energy-efficiency improvements in state and local government buildings. Just 8% of the funds have been spent because of the onerous restrictions placed on getting the funds.

$275 Billion was targeted at making homes more energy efficient and less than half has been spent because of a truly stupid restriction placed on the funds. The money is for loans to homeowners who make energy-efficient solar panels, windows, insulation, etc. The problem is that Congress demanded that all such loans occupy first place among the homeowner's mortgages. Banks won't accept their mortgages being pushed back into second place. Ergo, homeowners can't get loans approved and the whole green encouraging program is basically on hold, with no changes likely in the future.

The Administration and Congress insist on running everything from Washington and simply do not trust anybody else.

So the Government doesn't trust Americans. It is any wonder Americans don't trust their government?
